Prior to joining NeuVest^®, Ms. Ackerman was the Claim Attorney for Minnesota Lawyers Mutual (MLM), a Minneapolis-based national legal malpractice mutual insurance company. At MLM, Ms. Ackerman worked closely with litigators to defend legal malpractice suits brought against insured attorneys all over the country. She also represented insured attorneys at mediation, negotiating reasonable settlements with many types of claimants. Ms. Ackerman frequently gave continuing legal education presentations on preventing legal malpractice claims and, in 2005, was named by Minnesota Lawyer as one of Minnesota's "Up and Coming Attorneys".

In addition to working as an attorney, Ms. Ackerman is a professional writer and has worked as Editorial and Artistic Consultant for the Tbilisi International Film Festival and Parajonov Fund in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, where she lives part of the year.

Ms. Ackerman volunteers her time as an attorney with the Immigration Law Center of Minnesota and shares her love of horses as a volunteer Equine Assisted Learning facilitator at Acres for Life in Chisago, MN.

Ms. Ackerman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Acting, cum laude, from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and graduated magna cum laude from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is admitted to practice in Minnesota State courts.
